There are four progressive levels of TAGteach certification:

Primary Certification: TAGteach Fundamentals

Requirements:

  • Complete a TAGteach General Certification seminar
  • Obtain a mark of 80% or better on the written exam
  • Demonstrate competency in the practical exam

Objectives:   

  1. Use of TAG as a marker, information and positive reinforcement.
  2. How to, identify and design TAG Points.
  3. Realize the importance of single TAG Point focus
  4. Understand, formulate, and implement TAG phraseology
  5. Comprehend and identify Off-Point Errors
  6. Understand and detail Skill Breakdown and Shaping plans
  7. Understand and design Peer Tagging program
  8. Recognize TAG session management strategies
  9. Identify benefits of TAGteach to students and teachers
  10. Understand how to integrate TAGteach into existing programs


Level 1 Certification: Implementation in a Prescribed Field

Requirements:

  • Complete a TAGteach Primary Certification Seminar.
  • Obtain a mark of 80% or better on the written exam.
  • Demonstrate competency in the practical exam.
  • Complete and document a minimum of ten TAGteach hours within a specific field.  This documentation can be in the form of a video or journaling project.

We strongly suggest you submit a Documentation Proposal for review: Briefly describe the material you plan to document, in which format you plan to document your material, and expected submission date. This procedure will preclude submission of material that may not meet certification criteria.

Objectives:

  1. Understand use of TAG as a marker, information and positive reinforcement
  2. Comprehend, identify, and design TAG Points
  3. Realize the importance of single TAG Point focus
  4. Understand, formulate, and implement TAG phraseology
  5. Comprehend and identify Off-Point Errors
  6. Understand and detail Skill Breakdown and Shaping plans
  7. Understand and design Peer Tagging program
  8. Recognize TAG session management strategies
  9. Identify benefits of TAGteach to students and teachers
  10. Understand how to integrate TAGteach into existing programs

Video Documentation:

  • Choose material that will allow for assessment of TAGteach objectives. There should be at least one illustration from each of the ten fundamentals.

  • Video documentation must be recorded on VHS tape, mini-DV tape, CD, or DVD and should include sound. The video should be accompanied by a written log and/or detailed intro, voice over, or subtitles.

Journal Documentation:

  • Choose material that will allow for assessment of TAGteach objectives. There should be at least one written description of your encounters from each of the ten fundamentals.

  • Journal should be typed and submitted in presentation form: title page, body (including dates, lengths of TAG sessions and results), and conclusion.

TAGteach International instructors and/or members of its advisory board will review submitted documentation in a professional and timely manner.


Level 2 Certification: Exhibit Confidence & Creativity Using TAGteach Within Chosen Field

Requirements:

  • Complete and document a minimum of twenty-five additional TAGteach hours in a specific field.
  • Obtain a mark of 80% or better on a written test
  • Provide a class/course syllabus for your chosen field, including: TAG points, Shaping plans, proper phraseology, and conversion chart of RAPs previously taught without TAGteach and how they are/may be taught with TAGteach
  • Provide a practical demonstration of predefined criteria using live athletes/students either on videotape or live in the presence of a TAGteach instructor
  • Make a specific contribution to the advancement of TAGteach through a TTI approved project

Objectives:

  1. Demonstrate ability to design and implement an age- and skill-appropriate TAG session for students/athletes
  2. Evaluate existing program and identify ways in which TAGteach can be used to improve an education/workout session
  3. Demonstrate understanding of the use of TAGteach for problem solving
  4. Demonstrate ability to create and deliver TAG drills to a group of athletes (students), new to TAGteach
  5. Demonstrate creativity in the use of reinforcers, motivation, and rewards


Level 3 Certification: Ability to Teach Others

Requirements:

  • Complete and document an additional nine months or twenty-sixty hours of Level 2 experience
  • Obtain a mark of 80% or better on a written test
  • Lead a minimum of two sessions during a TAGteach sanctioned seminar
  • Design and present a two-hour organization specific workshop. This workshop will include materials produced from previous TAGteach projects and may include:
    • Videos, photos, charts/graphs, research papers, published articles/course syllabus, journals, etc.

This seminar may be adjudicated by video or attended by a TAGteach advisor.

Objectives:

Applicant will have experience in the implementation and development of TAGteach programs and will contribute to the TAGteach knowledge base by documenting improvements in technique, tagging drills, and shaping programs they have developed in their field.
